Cleaning floors with essential oils

Eco Home | Cleaning floors with Essential Oils

I am not one of those mothers who is scared of germs. In fact, I believe that some exposure to germs wouldn’t make any harm. However, living in a rainy country with a dog means, that I will have dirty and muddy floor every time my dog returns after a walk and my daughter as a baby spent most of her time rolling and crawling on the floor. For this reason, I had to clean floors daily. When it comes to cleaning floors, I don’t use any expensive products to do the job. Many of the commercial cleaners are extremely toxic and carcinogenic to us and environment.  Essential oils are great at cleaning up the dirt while leaving a refreshing, clean aroma in the air. Cleaning your floors with essential oils is completely safe for your family, it’s non-toxic and easy!

Be to, dauguma komercinių grindų valiklių toksiški, kancerogeniniai ir pavojingi jums bei aplinkai.

Best essential oils for cleaning floors

*  Immune boosting blend: Lavender and Rosemary

*  Citrus blend: Lemon, Lemongrass, Orange, Lime

*  Refreshing blend: Orange and Eucalyptus

*  Cleansing blend: Lemon and Eucalyptus or Rosemary

My favourite is citrus blend, though sometimes I use lavender as my daughter adores this calming scent.

Geriausi eterinių aliejų mišiniai namų valymui

*  Imuniteto “booster’is”: Levandos ir Rozmarins

*  Citrusinis mišinys: Citrina, Citrinžolė, Apelsinas, Mandarinas, Žalioji Citrina (laimas)

*  Gaivinantis mišinys: Apelsinas ir Eukaliptas

*  Valantis mišinys: Citrina ir Eukaliptas arba Rozmarinas

Mano mylimiausias mišinys yra citrininis, nors kartais naudoju tiesiog levandų eterinį aliejų, kadangi raminantis levandų kvapas mano dukros mylimiausias.

How to use essential oils?

Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to a bucket of water and then add 5–10 drops of essential oil. If you don’t like the smell of vinegar just skip it, water with essential oils and will work fine. However,  if you need a heavy duty cleaner, you can use castile soap. By the way, castile soap can be used to clean almost anything and everything in between! You can make a dishwasher, hand washer and multipurpose spray from it.

cleaning floor with essential oils

I often use steam mop for cleaning floor. In that case I simply add few drops of essential oil straight into a water cup attached to it. Simple, quick and clean!

Dažnai grindis valau su gariniu valymo prietaisu, tuomet eterinio aliejaus tiesiog įlašinu į indelį skirtą vandeniui pilti. Paprasta, greita ir švaru!

I have been seriously considering ditching commercial house cleaning products for quite some time now. I have managed to switch most of the soaps at home to castile soap. And once I finish all the commercial cleaning products I have left, I am ready to make my own, toxic free ones! The chances are I will start with floor cleaner 🙂

      Well done, Giedre!

I am using a simple organic soap bar for hands, body and hair. It’s natural and plastic-free.
It took me very long to get rid of all commercial cleaners, but all I am using now is Soda, White vinegar, Castile Soap and Lemon 🙂 I am working now on a free e-book “A guide to Natural Homemade Cleaning Recipes”, hope it will be finished soon!

      Thanks for stopping by!
